Many people ask me about creative wedding photography and what we do to ensure that we integrate creative photography into our packages. There are many things that contribute to creative photography, only some of which we dictate. The bride and groom, the venue, the weather and the mood of the event itself all contribute towards exactly how creative our photography can be.
Obviously when it comes to creative photography, understanding the unique desires of our bride and groom are top of the list and capturing ‘that‘ image which you will have in pride of place for the rest of your married lives can only be achieved if we appreciate the personality of the couple.
Some love creative photography to be fun and vibrant, full of energy and life and we are more than happy to oblige. Our considerable experience allows us to create a variety of different photographs and know exactly what to look for on the day to capture exactly what you’re looking for.
Others prefer creative photography to be more dramatic and moody, creating more ‘arty’ images. Again drawing upon inspiration from the surroundings and the personality from the couple we aim to capture a photograph to make the happy couple go wow!
In fact we are happy to take just about all image types, from formal to informal, posed or natural, as long as we are capturing exactly what you are hoping for, then we are getting it right!
Capturing truly creative photography requires more than just a keen eye, or expensive equipment, it is important that as a photographer you have plenty of artistic flair and a vivid imagination as many of the most creative photographs, often the most stunning, are not obvious and easily missed by a less imaginative photographer.
I have seen some photographers work become increasingly ‘samey’ over time which I would find disappointing as a customer. There are of course some images which are taken as rule of thumb, but as soon as imagination goes out of the window, artist indifference starts to set in and before you know it your wedding loses its individual feeling and all the personality from the day is lost.
We feel very strongly that the Bride and Groom should set the mood of the day, this is often reflected through the smaller details, from colour schemes to table plans and wedding favours. We are always keen to capture these details with creative photography as the little things often carry significant meaning and are therefore just as important as the photographs of the venue itself.
It is possible to capture really creative photographs of the smaller things, playing with angles, lighting and focus to draw your attention either towards or away from specific details. It is often these shots that separate a good photographer from a great photographer!
We often have really great feedback from the less obvious photographs that we take.
Having the benefit of two photographers, as found in our Aspire and Imagine packages, is a big help when it comes to creative photography. Having two experienced wedding photographers in attendance helps free up a lot of time away from taking the essential images, doubles the angles that we can cover and helps free up time for at least one of our wedding photographers to focus on more artistic shots and creative photography.
We do pride ourselves on our creative photography, please see our galleries for some examples of our work.
