Choosing a Wedding Video Company - By Diamond Films, Award Winning Wedding Vidoegraphers in association with LJ Photographics.

Like most of us you will more than likely search and resource the internet to find your videographer.

There are thousands to choose from and you will want to narrow this down and select 10 different wedding video companies and request their information.

To narrow this down you will want to be comfortable with 4 things:

Website: Their website is their shop window. If the website looks awful then their videos are probably awful too. Continue looking!

Video Clips: Most companies show video clip samples on their website. Write down the websites of the samples that you liked.

High Definition: All professional video companies should be shooting in HD now. Make sure you get a High Definition recording. You will regret it later if you don’t!

Price: Many companies vary on price. Expect to pay anything from £1000 to £5000 for a well respected company. Put price to the test. Request a DVD from a company charging £500 and compare it to a company charging £2500. You will see a big difference in quality and content.

So now you have narrowed your choice down, select 10 of the companies you most preferred and request a brochure and DVD. Sit down and have a night in together watching wedding videos. If you do this early on in your wedding plans you may get some ideas for your own wedding!

Narrowing the final 10:

You now want to narrow your decision to 3 of the best wedding DVD’s.

The demonstration DVD should show perfect examples of Sound, picture quality, creative camerawork and editing.

Sound: You will want to listen to voice, not music. Make sure the DVD demonstrates good quality sound from the wedding vows and speeches.

Picture: The DVD you watch should have excellent picture quality. The colours should be vivid and not over exposed or dull.

Camerawork: If you see any shakes or wobbles eject the DVD! You also want to see various shots with interesting angles.

Editing: The DVD should demonstrate creative editing to music, slow motion, black and white sequences, colour enhancing and creative titles. The cuts from one scene to another should also be clean.

Making your choice.

Now you are down to 3 videographers. You like their work and all are equally as good.

1) You want to make sure they are all still available for your wedding.

2) Are they members of the Institute of Videography (IOV)? The IOV are a governing body that promote professionalism in wedding videography.

3) Can they send you a full wedding video for you to see. This should be the decision maker.

4) Insurances & Licences. Are they insured for public Liability and do they have the appropriate licences to record wedding services and also hold licences to use commercially recorded music on your DVD?

However your decision is made make sure it is the right decision. Your wedding video will be a reflection of your wedding day and will be there for the coming generations to see.
